9 Basic Hair Essentials That Every Girl Must Own
I think we can all agree that as women, our hair is not just a big part of our appearance, but our identities and the way we express ourselves as well. Even women who do not care much about styling themselves up still want their hair to look good at the least. Regardless of our hair color, shape, length, etc. all of us care about how the mop at the top looks!
That’s why there are a few basic “tools” that all of us should own to take care of one of our most prized possessions. Here’s a list of the basic hair essentials that every girl must own. Trust us, you will definitely find yourself wishing for them during an emergency.
1. Hair Dryer
A hairdryer is one of the most basic, yet absolutely essential tools that every girl must own, especially if you have any haircut that isn’t a bob or pixie. Air or towel drying your hair can take a lot of time, energy, or even cause damage in the latter case.
And when you’re in a rush to get out of the door in the morning, your options are to not shower, leave the house with wet hair, or use a hair dryer – we think the last of those sounds like the best idea!
A straightener is another tool that is one of the best things you can own in terms of hair styling. Not only are hair straighteners great for doing what their name advertisers, you can also them to curl your hair. Although there are several types that come with different attachments, etc., even the most basic ones can be used to achieve different styles if you know the right tricks (and thank God, we have YouTube to teach us!).
3. A Good Hair Brush/Comb
I know this seems like a given. I mean, obviously, anyone with hair would need something to brush their hair with, right? Of course, but we’re not talking about just any old comb. A hairbrush is often a tool that is overlooked in the grand scheme of things, but it should not. A good quality hair brush is crucial for good hair health, especially if your hair is prone to breakage. You should also get yourself a wide-toothed comb, which is the best tool for getting tangles out without damaging your hair.
So, don’t skimp on getting a couple good ones. And it’s sure to last longer, so you’re really just saving money in the long run!
4. Dry Shampoo
For those days when you just can’t help but hit the snooze button over and over that by the time you finally bolt out of bed, its already the time you should have been at work, there’s no other savior than good old dry shampoo. You know you don’t have time for a shower, and you can’t go into work with greasy hair – dry shampoo works like a charm!
5. Shampoo & Conditioner
And for one those days when you do have time for a shower, of course, you should have some good quality shampoo and conditioner. This is another product that you cannot skimp on, because the quality of the product will show on your hair. But, perhaps what’s more important than that is that you find a brand that suits your hair’s needs as everyone’s hair is different.
6. Bobby Pins
You can achieve a lot of different hairstyles using something as simple as a few bobby pins. But even on a regular day, bobby pins can help your hair stay together throughout the day as you run around doing chores, at work, while going out, etc. A good tip is to always have more bobby pins with you than seems necessary, because trust us, you never know when you need one. And its not like they’re expensive or take too much space, so there’s no harm in carrying a few extra.
7. Hair Ties
Hair ties are similar to bobby pins in that you should always have a few extra, and carry at least one in your purse. Even if you prefer to wear your hair loose on a day-to-day basis, you never know when you might need to put your hair up and get down to business!
8. Heat-Protecting Spray
A heat protecting spray should always be bought along with a hair straightener/dryer, because all that hotness does not help your hair out too much. And since we tend to use these things on a daily basis, the damage to our hair and scalp presented by the heat can be a lot. This could also be the case if you like to be out during hot summer months under the sweltering weather. Using a heat protection spray will offset this and act as a shield against the, well, heat.
9. Hair Oil
Hair oil is another essential product of hair care that many of us tend to shy away from. But, in fact, it can be one of your best tools to fight against any sort hair-related issue from dry and itchy scalp to split ends. As we wash our hair, we tend to wash away the natural oils present in it as well, which ends up being the cause of many of these problems. Using hair oil will help rejuvenate your hair, keep it frizz-free and moisturized. It also encourage hair growth and helps keep your hair soft, shiny, and smooth.
